The division produces a range of products for the power engineering industry, in particular important components for HV/MV switching stations.

Production centres around devices for earth fault protection in distribution networks. All products created by the Electrical Engineering Division adhere to the relevant standards. Moreover, they boast high quality anti-corrosive protection and excellent operational reliability. Items are equipped with the latest components purchased from the most prestigious companies.

Among the most significant items produced are smoothly adjustable arc suppression coils made in compliance with the IEC 60076-6 international standard, which are used for compensating capacitive currents in MV and HV systems in instances of ground faults. The earth fault protection system focused on the compensated networks (through the arc suppression coil) is described in the article: Earth fault in compensated networks. One clear advantage of smoothly adjustable arc suppression coils is the possibility to change evenly the current setting of an arc suppression coil without the need to trip it from a network, whilst also enabling the arc suppression coil to be put at exactly the required current value. The automatic controller is used for tuning of the smoothly adjustable arc suppression coil to the current value precisely corresponding to the ground capacitive current of the network. EGE cooperates in this field with A.Eberle GmbH & Co. KG and Protecta Electronics Ltd., these being firms that produce the tuning controller among other instruments.

The standard method used for automatic tuning is so-called checking of the resonant curve, i.e. searching for the maximum voltage Uo on the coil measuring winding. However, the ever-increasing share of cables in distribution networks and the feedback effects of load fluctuations and distributed generation lead to the need to use more sophisticated tuning methods, such as the principle of measuring the voltage response to injecting current signal into the auxiliary winding of the coil. For this purpose, the Electrical Engineering Division has developed a new MCI P-01 current injection module using completely new method of injecting a multi-frequency low-power signal, which has a number of advantages compared to third-party systems. Thanks to the cooperation with A. Eberle GmbH & Co. KG, this product is part of their REGSysTM tuning system. The connection of the MCI injector with the REG DP and REG DPA controllers is currently the most advanced way of arc suppression coils tuning.

EGE has a wealth of experience in designing and producing arc suppression coils. The expertise garnered by the division enables staff to develop new models and react flexibly to any requirements such devices must meet. The division’s experienced team is capable of assisting with any problems relating to devices sold.

The division’s products are sold to many countries worldwide. Their chief strength is a highly flexible approach to the special requirements of clients that concern the workmanship or equipment of the products manufactured. Furthermore, a particular team of service technicians is assigned to commission products supplied.
